It is the day after Christmas and I just sent in the last check to the publisher for “The 12th Demon: Vampyre Majick” to pay for the actual book printing. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season. Ours was especially wonderful with both of my children at home as well as my 93 year old father. Christmas Eve at my house was maddening and very chaotic but it snowed (thanks to my carefully hidden snow machine) and Santa paid a visit (thanks to his good friend, James Marshall).

Now, to those who read “The 13th Demon” you probably have already seen the entry in the news section on the short story “A Demonless Christmas”. If you have read the first book, please download and read the story. There are some “spoilers”. And, if you want to read on, I’ll elaborate on some of the content.

The story takes place in the beach house at Christmas six months after “The 13th Demon”. Jonathan no longer lives there full time. He has moved to another city.

Josh is living with Jonathan and is on “probation” for something that happened in “The 12th Demon”.

Vivian talks about her little “flying saucers” and this is in reference to something that happens in the “The 11th Demon”.

Shannon is introduced as a mysterious figure who has befriended Josh and was involved in “The 10th Demon”.

There are two other very important figures I omitted from the story line because they are more elaborately introduced in “The 12th Demon”.

April and Claire are mentioned in “The 13th Demon”.
Raven is introduced in “The 12th Demon”.
Rene has a pivotal role in “The 11th Demon” but is introduced in “The 12th Demon”.
Ophelia is a main character in “The 10th Demon”.

So, that is all I’m going to tell you right now.

Have a Happy New Year!

Christmas is Coming and the Goose is Gettin’ Fat!

December is here and Christmas is just around the corner. So, here are some bits and pieces for anyone still interested in my works.

I have completed the rough draft for “Death By Darwin” a ‘side’ book featuring Jonathan Steel as a minor character. I developed the idea about four years ago hoping that a major publisher might be interested in the book and publish it. It was a strategy that worked for Ted Dekker. He had several books written and kept writing them until one was accepted for publication. Then, the publishers went back and wanted his other books.

Before I decided to self publish “The 13th Demon” that was my strategy. But, I never finished the book until just now. I am planning on sending a book proposal to a major publisher and see what happens.

Death By Darwin is about Ruth Branson, a trial lawyer who must successfully defend a scientist of murder. In the process, she is drawn into the world of paleontology and the conflict between science and faith. Jonathan Steel is hired to be her investigator and helps her solve the murder.

I’m still waiting to see the final version of the book cover for “The 12th Demon” and I have started preliminary work on the marketing material and website with Jeremy Johnson, the world’s most awesome graphic designer! I’m also working with Perennialmedia, Chris Lyon and Luke Lee on a webisode from the book. Unlike “The 13th Demon” this webisode will be taken directly from the book and not be based on the “mythology” of the book.

On another note, Sherry, Casey and I went to Dallas this past weekend and had the joy of attending a performance of “Behold the Lamb of God” concert featuring the following artists: Andrew Peterson, Bebo Norman, Sara Groves, Jill Phillips, Andrew Osenga, and Andy Gullahorn. The first hour featured two songs by each of the artists. The instruments were all acoustic and ranged from the hammer dulcimer to the mandolin. Then, the final hour was the concert taken straight from Andrew Peterson’s CD of the same name. If you’ve never listened to the CD, go immediately to iTunes and download it or order it on Amazon. It is amazing!

I guess I’m in touch with my feminine side because I cried through most of the first hour especially at Andy Gullahorn’s song, “I was more of a man back then”. And, of course, Bebo’s “I am nothing without you” tore me up! I know it’s probably too late to find the concert in your area but check out Andrew Peterson on Google and if you miss it this year, look for it next year! I’m definitely ready for the Christmas season now!
